Overview

Service overview & scope

For higher-risk buildings or buildings with non-standard layouts, a written fire strategy is the document that ties the design, the management and the response together. We produce written fire strategies, aligned to BS 9999 and BS 7974, that provide a single source of truth for designers, the responsible person and enforcing authorities — and that can be developed by chartered engineers where Building Safety Act Gateway submissions are required.

What's included

Scope of work

  • Building classification and occupancy analysis
  • Means of escape design review
  • Compartmentation strategy
  • Detection, alarm and suppression design review
  • Smoke control and ventilation strategy
  • Operational fire safety arrangements

Why it matters

Why this matters

Required for HRBs

Higher-risk buildings under the Building Safety Act 2022 must hold a documented fire strategy as part of the Safety Case Report submitted to the Building Safety Regulator.

Single source of truth

A written strategy stops conflicting advice between designers, contractors and the responsible person.

Defensible under scrutiny

When the regulator asks why a building works, a written strategy is the answer.
