What your fire strategy covers
For higher-risk buildings or buildings with non-standard layouts, a written fire strategy is the document that ties the design, the management and the response together. We produce written fire strategies, aligned to BS 9999:2017 and BS 7974:2019, that provide a single source of truth for designers, the Responsible Person and enforcing authorities — and that can be developed by chartered engineers where Building Safety Act Gateway submissions are required.
What is a fire strategy report, and when does a building need one?
A fire strategy report brings design and management arrangements together, particularly for complex or higher-risk buildings. The need and scope depend on the building, proposed works and the information required by designers or enforcing authorities.
How do fire strategy drawings differ from a fire risk assessment?
Strategy drawings illustrate arrangements such as escape routes and compartment lines. A fire risk assessment examines current hazards and precautions; it should be informed by the strategy but is a separate assessment.
